ELECTROIMPACT
Cold Working

Designed for hard and complex materials.

Sleeve cold working is a versatile process used to prestress the edges of bolt or fuel flow holes in metal parts, typically repeated tensile loaded parts and fittings in aircraft structures such as lower wing skin, engine mounts, landing gear attach points and wing box areas. It can be used on aluminum, titanium and steel parts under 220KSI tensile strength.

Basic tools are shown in this catalog. Electroimpact can build special tools to solve just about any cold work challenge, including fully automated systems in assembly machines. Contact us for your special needs.

The Cold Working Concept.

Cold worked holes typically have 3-5X the fatigue life of non-cold worked holes. The lower the applied stress on the part, the greater the life improvement.

This allows the use of lighter structures in original design, or increased life in areas that are prematurely cracking in service - such as service bulletin work.

The system of cold work tools in this catalog was developed at Boeing in the 1970's, it has been adopted by practically every airframe manufacturer in the world. The tools and part numbers in this catalog follow the original Boeing spec.

SLEEVES

Cold Working Sleeves

Electroimpact sleeves are designed for strength, precision, and reliability in coldworking applications. Available in both flared and straight configurations, they cover a wide range of hole sizes and lengths to match your project needs.

With standard sizes readily available and special sizes offered upon request, our sleeves are manufactured to tight tolerances for consistent performance. Options include normal or oversize configurations (up to 3/64"), with lengths in 1/16" increments for maximum flexibility.

Engineered to integrate seamlessly with Electroimpact cold work tooling, our sleeves provide the durability and accuracy required for aerospace and other demanding industries.

MANDRELS

Precision Coldwork Mandrels

Electroimpact mandrels are engineered for durability, accuracy, and compatibility across a wide range of hole sizes. They cover applications from 5/32" up to nearly 2" hole sizes, with oversize options available.

Manufactured from high-quality materials and designed for repeat performance, our mandrels are threaded for easy integration with cold working tools and are available in both standard and special configurations. For unique requirements, custom mandrels are available upon request.

PULLERS

Sleeve Type Cold Work Puller Guns

Engineered for precision and durability, Electroimpact’s sleeve type cold work puller guns deliver unmatched performance across a wide range of stackups. From lightweight, compact models to heavy-duty options, our puller guns cover everything from 1" stackups on our smallest unit to up to 6" stackup capacity on our largest model. With pull forces up to 44,000 lb and ergonomic designs, they provide reliable cold working solutions for both small and large-scale applications.

PUMPS

Pumps Built to Last in Demanding Shop Environments

Our pumps are engineered with rugged steel sheet construction to handle the toughest real-world conditions. Designed with serviceability and convenience in mind, the frames bolt together for easy maintenance and feature built-in top trays to keep your pullers, hose assemblies, and tools organized.
